Beginners’ courses are structured for travellers and for people interested in learning the basics of a language. By end of the term they will have a basic knowledge of how the language works and will be able to speak at a very simple level.
Level 1 Suitable For: • No prior knowledge of Target Language (to be called TL)
What You Should Know After 15 Hours: Introduce and describe yourself and other people, say where you are from and how you feel, use the formal/informal way of speaking, say where you live, express likes and dislikes, talk about what people are like, order something to eat or drink, work with numbers.
Suitable For: • Students with some limited conversational knowledge of TL
What You Should Know After 15 Hours: Tell the time, ask and give directions, organize an appointment, arrange when and where to meet, talk about sport and past times, use all the present tense conjugations, talk about your family, do some shopping.
Suitable For: • Students with moderate conversational knowledge of TL• Students who have completed 30 – 40 hours previous study
What You Should Know After 15 Hours: Talk about the weather, say what you do during the day, learn the simple past tense, talk about where you have been and what you have done. Keep a weekly activity diary.
Suitable For: • Students who have completed 45 – 60 hours previous study
What You Should Know After 15 Hours: Talk about yourself in more depth, shop for clothes, have a phone conversation, plan a day/night out. Learn the imperfect tense, go to a pharmacy, use the bank, book a hotel. |
